It is often easier to get an answer here, "but why all the classical music sucks", which express a professional opinion of an expert is.

I'll take a stab at it. It hurts to lay aside a favorite place of Mozart, Debussy and Prokofiev, and I was very tempted to collections of related works such as Chopin and Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier belong. But when a student asked me to show a list of works for solo piano, originality in height, has been prepared very well to have the test of time, and stood as a great spiritual or emotional reward careful study, and I suggest before, the following:

Bach: Aria with 30 variations, the "Goldberg Variations"
Haydn: Sonata No. 62 in E flat
Beethoven: Sonata Op. Fa 54 "Appassionata"
Beethoven: Sonata Op. 106 in B flat major "Hammerklavier"
Schumann: Fantasy in C major, Op. 17
Chopin: Nocturne in C ♯ minor, Op. 27 N ยบ 1
Chopin: Ballade No. 4 in F minor, Op. 52
Liszt: Sonata in B minor
Mussorgsky: Pictures at an \\ \\ \\ \\ Exhibition \\ \\ \\ \\ u0026lt;br> Brahms: Paganini Variations, Op. 35

This is certainly not a definitive list, but you have a starting point for a very entertaining debate, I think:)

As you might guess from the responses above, this question has no correct answer, so I will not even try. I'll give you some of my favorites (in no particular case of my top 10. Would it be difficult to choose a piece, and) my favorite.

First, some changes to the previous answer:
- "Rondo Alla Turca" by Mozart, Bach, is the third movement of his Piano Sonata in 11th
Claire de Lune, Debussy, originally written for piano. It Debussy Suite 'Bergamo' on the piano, which also consists of four piano pieces CDL is simply best known.

Some of my favorites:
-Bach's Fugue in D minor from the first volume of the Well-Tempered Clavier (BWV. 853);
-Barber 's Nocturne (Homage to John Field), Op. 33;
Messiaen 's "The Song of a landscape in ecstasy Triste" from his Preludes;
Ravel 's "Alborada del" gracioso mirror and "Toccata" from Le Tombeau de Couperin;
Transcendent Studies, No.10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Studies of Liszt, a. 139;
Beethoven's Piano Sonatas Op. 101, 106, 110, 111 ... (OK, the majority of his sonatas, ...);
"By Sergei Prokofiev Sonata No. 3 and No. 4;
Chopin's Third Scherzo, his Sonata for two people;
Schumann 's as "Faschingsschwank from Vienna";
Carl Vine Sonata No. 1

Ok, so I cheated with 10 composers, instead of 10 pieces ...
